Canberra, Australia’s capital city is located inland, south-west of Sydney and north-east of Melbourne. It is a planned metropolis based on plans by Chicago Architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin. Building work started in 1913 but wasn’t completed until the 1960’s. The city was build as a ‘Garden City’ and is surrounded by farmland, forests and nature reserves. Every spring Canberra hosts Floriade, Australia’s largest flower show.
